About our rescue....

The UK German Shepherd Rescue was formed in September 2010, starting in the North West of England, the rescue, with the help it's dedicated volunteers grew from strength to strength, within six months the rescue covered all regions of the United Kingdom including Scotland and Northern Ireland although in later years the rescue reduced cover for cover for Scotland and Ireland as this was also covered by some very good local dedicated GSD rescues.

Why did we start another rescue? 

Our rescue founders and our volunteers have a wealth of rescue experience and with of course the German shepherd breed, like our founders all our initial volunteers worked for other rescues and helped rehome thousands of dogs, the rescue was born with a new set of working principles and down to earth common sense.

We changed the way rescue should be ran, with a basic principle....

If a business person starts a rescue it soon becomes all about the money, how much and how fast money can be stacked in a bank, but place an dedicated animal lover in charge of a rescue the whole thing becomes about the welfare of the dogs, the UK German Shepherd Rescue was created on the principles, for the love, safety and welfare of the German Shepherd Breed. 

We added common sense.....

Yes rules are rules but many lack common sense, we decided on listening to our new homes and see what they had to offer our dogs rather than simply refuse them due to not ticking the right boxes, common sense gets unwanted dogs into loving homes and of course made us one of the largest and most loved UK German Shepherd rescues that we are today.
